One of the most difficult counseling situations is when divorce has created a “joint custody” arrangement between a Christian and a non-Christan parent. In many such cases, the non-Christian parent may actually be antagonistic to the teachings of the Bible.
So the Christian parent will have the child and want to teach him or her about God and God’s ways, but when the child goes to the other parent, he or she may mock the Christian parent’s beliefs and standards and encourage the child to do anything he or she wants to do.
This message will help anyone to make wise decisions, but especially encourages youth to realize that they must not just do what pleases them most right now. The best life lived is the life that looks out into the future and considers the long range impact of decisions.
Wrong decisions may look great up close. But right decisions will look better and better the further you follow them into the future.
